Tulway has opened its newest facility and created 50 new jobs in Teesside.
Contributing to the economic development of the Teesside region, this is a significant milestone in the company’s journey of growth and innovation.
Located in Teesside, the new state-of-the-art facility spans 70,000 sq ft and will provide opportunities across a range of roles, including engineering, project management, and skilled trades.
This expansion, which also includes a further 12,000 sq. ft of office space and boasts five advanced fabrication bays equipped with eight overhead cranes, strengthens Tulway’s position as a premier provider of specialised fabrication and installation services, particularly in the fields of high-integrity pipework, steelwork, and mechanical equipment.
“This new facility is more than just an expansion—it’s a gateway to new opportunities,” said Kevin Tully, the MD of Tulway. “By broadening our capacity, we’re now able to enter new markets, including the renewable energy, CCUS, sustainable aviation fuel, and Nuclear sectors, while continuing to support our long-standing clients.”
Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, who opened Tulway’s new facility, said: “This new facility is a fantastic step forward for Tulway and a huge win for Teesside’s growing reputation as the UK’s centre for high-quality manufacturing and engineering.
“This investment and stamp of confidence in our region comes directly off the back of securing Net Zero Teesside, bp’s £6 billion project. I have always said that making sure local businesses benefit from the massive investment we are attracting is my priority and that is exactly what is happening here. In securing this work, Tulway are expanding their operation and creating 50 new jobs for local people. This is fantastic news and exactly what we are trying to achieve.
“I look forward to seeing their continued success in the years to come.”
Tulway’s new facility is equipped with the latest technologies. One of them is the revolutionary Weldeye system for weld monitoring—a technology that positions Tulway as one of only a handful of fabricators in the UK with this capability.
Additionally, the facility features pipe bevelling machinery, which reduces bevelling times by 80 percent, enabling quicker project turnarounds and cost savings for clients.
Kevin Tully continued, “With this expansion, Tulway is strategically positioned to support emerging industries such as Net Zero Teesside and sustainable aviation fuel technology. These sectors represent critical steps in the UK’s journey toward a greener future, and Tulway is proud to contribute its engineering expertise to these transformative initiatives.”
In line with Tulway’s commitment to sustainability, the new facility has been designed to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. The recent partnership with Incon NDT to bring non-destructive testing (NDT) services in-house will streamline operations and lower carbon emissions by an estimated 20 tonnes annually.
Tulway’s expansion is part of a broader strategy to future-proof its operations and remain a leader in high-integrity engineering solutions. The company is poised for continued success with forward orders of over ten million and a growing client base.
“This is an exciting chapter for Tulway,” Tully added. “Our investment in this facility demonstrates our confidence in the industry, our commitment to our clients, and our dedication to driving innovation and sustainability in engineering.”
