It is no secret that team Tulway are huge advocates of the North East, having opened our own site in Middlesbrough last year…
With the region currently flying high in terms of employment, upskilling and new business, the latest news regarding our new freeport, will now go a long way towards attracting more global firms and opportunities to Teesside and beyond throughout the years to come.
The first of the UK’s much-anticipated freeports to become operational since Rishi Sunak confirmed their reintroduction in 2020, Teesside’s freeport which boasts ‘global trade, global scale’ is now set to bring 18,000 new jobs to the region throughout the next five years, in the process boosting our local economy by £3.2bn.
Covering 4,500 acres in total and touching key locations including the Teesworks site, Wilton International, Teesside International Airport, Port of Middlesbrough, Port of Hartlepool and Tees Dock, the freeport is a matter of miles from our Skippers Lane Industrial Estate and due to its locality and size, it is certainly an exciting time for everyone involved, with a real buzz now around the North East as we enter into the final weeks of 2021.
This news is again revolutionary for Teesside and a huge amount of credit needs to go towards Ben Houchen and the Tees Valley Combined Authority for constantly pushing for innovation and investment into the region, and I have no doubt that after leading the way with the freeports, the North East will continue to be at the forefront of the post-Covid recovery, as well as the green revolution
